CloudMuzik app updated to support Windows Phone 8

Google Music lovers using a Windows Phone have reason to rejoice. The CloudMuzik app for Windows Phone has been updated to support WIndows Phone 8. The update bumps the app up to version 1.2.1.4 and enables it to support a host of new features that make using the app a better experience. The CloudMuzik App is Google Play Music for the Windows Phone platform.

The new update brings about changes that will allow users to browse a full music library. To make favourite artists, albums and songs more accessible, the app lets you pin them to the start screen, making optimum use of the customisable screen of Windows Phone. The most important new feature is that CloudMuzik will allow users to listen to songs offline using the cache function.

The app is now available to users on Windows Phone 7.5 and windows Phone 8. Currently, CloudMuzik has ratings of 3.5 stars out of 5 and most of its 103 reviewers wrote about being impressed with the app’s smooth integration with Google Music.

It has been revealed that the newest version of the Windows Phone platform, Windows 8, has seen about a 40 percent raise in app submissions ever since it was launched. Despite the fact that the quality of existing apps on the Windows Phone Store are said to be higher than those available on the Android app store, the sheer lack of numbers is why users seem to be reluctant to switch to Windows Phone. However, Windows Phone representatives assure that app submissions will soon be hitting higher numbers.

To give a boost to developers, Windows had announced that they were going to keep the app certification process open for most December, including what is usually counted as holiday season.

Bigger companies like Disney and Rovio have taken to releasing their apps for the Windows Phone platform too. After releasing Angry Birds Star Wars for a range of platforms in November, Rovio released Angry Birds Star Wars for Windows Phone 7 as well. This app has been available on the App Store for $0.99 since December for handsets running on the Windows Phone 7.5 platform and WVGA resolution of 480 x 800.

A little late, but in a welcome move, Disney too released its much loved ‘Where’s My Water?’ puzzle game for Windows 8 in December. In the game description, Disney mentioned that Where’s My Water? for Windows Phone 8 consists of "three stories, three separate games, more than 400 different puzzles.". The game is also to receive free updates once installed.
