Burst.com Sues Apple On Patent Infringement

Burst.com has filed a countersuit against Apple Computer claiming that the iTunes software, the iPod and the Quicktime streaming software all infringe on patents held by the company. Despite a full disclosure case in January being filed by Apple stating that it was not infringing on Burst's patents, the company is going ahead with the lawsuit.The case is being filed on Monday in federal court in San Francisco. Burst is asking for royalties as well as an injunction asking for a halt on use of the patents.Burst has developed software that speeds up the delivery of digital files over a network. The company was involved in a patent infringement dispute with Microsoft too last year. It ended with Microsoft shelling out $60 million and having to acquire a license to the Burst technology.
