BSNL launches enterprise cloud services in India

State-run operator BSNL, together with Dimension Data, a global ICT solutions provider, today launched its enterprise cloud services in the country. According to a report by the Times of India, the enterprise cloud services are based on Dimension Data's Managed Cloud Platform (MCP) and will be delivered via BSNL's Internet data centres.

The MCP allows enterprises to support public, private and hybrid cloud models; these are also "enterprise-ready". According to the report, MCP offers several layers of security, administrative controls, highest availability of SLAs, phone support 24/7 and also incorporates management capabilities.

The launch event was presided by Kapil Sibal, the Minister of State for Communications and IT. At the launch, Sibal was quoted as saying, "With the central as well as state governments strategically investing in strengthening their e-governance initiatives to benefit citizens, this public-private partnership to offer cloud services is another step towards realising the larger goal of bridging the gap between citizens and the government."
