Bang With Friends is back with a bang. Three months after being unceremoniously ousted from the Apple App Store, the hook-up application is back in a much more modest avatar with the name “Down”.
For those not in the know, Bang With Friends was an application that worked off Facebook and helped you hook up with friends for a little dalliance, anonymously. All you needed to do is click on a button that read “Down to Bang” to indicate that you were ready to mingle. The app would then pair you up with your friends from Facebook who were “down to bang” too. The best part about the application was that it was completely anonymous till you were paired up.
Down With Friends
Apple booted the application off its store back in May but no reason was given for its ouster. Going by Apple’s records, it isn’t really comfortable with anything bordering on sexual. Even Vine was forced to change its age rating as a compromise for taking it off the Editor’s Pick section in the App Store, only because you could search for pornographic content on it. Bang With Friends also ran into a bit of a controversy with Zynga, which had an issue with the “With Friends” suffix that is used in many of its games.
The makers of Bang With Friends had promised the app would be back on the App Store and so it is three months later. It has been rechristened “Down”, signifying the action “down to bang”. The button has been replaced by one that reads “I’m down”, indicating that the person is interested in a ... well, you get the drift.
Interestingly, the app seems to be broadening its horizons to accommodate general dating instead of being just a hook-up application. There’s now a new button called “Down to hang” that you can click on just to chill with your Facebook friends.
The service is now being referred to as “BWF” in some places. The Android app, interestingly is still retaining the name Bang With Friends even while it has been updated with the “hang” button which is being called “Up to hang” on the platform.
Head on to the App Store to download the self-censored Down to “hang with friends”.
