ASUS Prepping Tegra 3 'Kal-El' Tablet

Most of us would’ve been forgiven for thinking ASUS would’ve been resting on their laurels following the sell-out launch of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, or worrying about the severe supply line shortages they’re facing for the very same tablet. According to a DigiTimes report, ASUS are busy prepping two future tablet launches. One of them is expected to be a Windows tablet powered by an Intel Atom processor, while the other one grabs the headlines and rightly so, because it’s expected to boast of NVIDIA’s next generation SoC, the Tegra 3 or ‘Kal-El’ as its codenamed.

Kal-El, first showcased at the Mobile World Congress, is NVIDIA’s follow-up to Tegra 3 and will be capable of performing as a quad-core processor. Touted to be five times faster than the Tegra 2, it’s expected to bring some serious horsepower to the mobility industry.

This isn’t the first time Kal-El has been in the news, as it was recently rumoured that Motorola might be working on Tegra 3 smartphones already. We might be closer to the quad-core mobility era than we think.
