Astronaut Chris Hadfield sings Space Oddity as he bids farwewell to the ISS

The coolest astronaut ever has done it again. On the eve of his scheduled return to Earth from the International Space Station, Hadfield has fittingly released a YouTube video of him performing David Bowie’s Space Oddity in space.

Hadfield sings and plays the guitar on the track. You would think this would be a one-take video, but Hadfield has turned it into quite a music video. Like singing in the space wasn’t enough!

He has shot certain scenes in a way that the blue earth is visible with the lyrics “Here am I sitting in a tin can far above the world/ Planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can do.” It’s awe-inspiring. Hadfield sings, “I'm floating in a most peculiar way,” as he actually is floating with a guitar and you just can’t help but crack a smile.

Hadfield, a Canadian, has been at the International Space Station since December and has already handed over its command to Russian Cosmonaut Pavel Vinogradov. In the few months that he has spent at the International Space Station, Hadfield has posted several videos of him showing how to clip one’s nails safely in space, how to play the guitar and how you cannot cry in space.

Hadfield has quite a fan following on this planet, especially since he’s been so socially prolific even from space. The astronaut has well over 700,000 followers on Twitter and has even conducted a Reddit Ask Me Anything session. He’s especially interested in music and even went on to record the first song in space in December. Check out his YouTube channel for more space fun videos.
