According to reports, Apple is set to unveil movie downloads on iTunes on a rental basis, in three weeks time. The US giant may also introduce a new generation of iPod featuring a 3.5-inch touch-screen display and a better hard drive at the same time.Reports say Apple has made deals with Walt Disney, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, and Warner Bros., and is in talks with other studios to rent out their content from iTunes. Sources say that the software would either provide for a certain number of playbacks or else be time-bound.According to analysts, in the face of competition from Guba.com and Movielink, the move by Apple to rent out videos may not hold good in the long run.
