Siri has been one of the most prominent features of iOS versions and iPhones released post the iPhone 4S two years ago. However, what most don’t know is that the voice assistant feature of Apple has been in beta mode ever since its launch. It has now emerged that Siri will be coming out of beta with the launch of iOS 7.

A report by 9to5 Mac has noted that Apple seems to have dropped all references to Siri being a beta product last week. If you happened to chance on the Siri informational page, the bottom part read, “Siri is available in Beta only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad with Retina display, iPad mini, and iPod touch (5th generation) and requires Internet access. Siri may not be available in all languages or in all areas, and features may vary by area. Cellular data charges may apply.”

Are you out of beta, Siri?

Siri was launched back in 2011 and was very sluggish at first on the iPhone 4S. With its limited language capability and the time taken to pull up data, the product was rightly in beta mode for the longest time. Over a period of two years, Siri has improved to become one of the most reliable voice assistant across any smartphone OS, and can go toe to toe with Google Now. iOS 7 and the new Siri will be available for download from September 18.
