Apple has seeded the next beta version of iOS 5.1, which is iOS 5.1 beta 3 to developers for testing the next update. According to MacRumors, the next version is build 9B5141a. The previous version arrived as build 9B5127a, which released iOS 5.1 beta 2 in December. This new build has been reported to allow users to switch on and off 3G services, again. Back in October, it was reported that the iPhone 4S had been missing the 3G toggle switch. The switch is back with the old warning that while 3G is faster, it consumes more battery.Beta 3 brings back the 3G toggle switch in the settings

The release notes for iOS 5.1 beta 3, include a note about a new API, which is designed to help developers flag files and directories that should not be backed up. The addition says, "iOS 5.1 introduces a new API to mark files or directories that should not be backed up. For NSURL objects, add the NSURLIsExcludedFromBackupKey attribute to prevent the corresponding file from being backed up."

Paddy does not, we repeat, definitely does NOT belong in the category of Mac-head (yeh right!). She does get excited by her iPhone and her iMac and her iPod Nano and her Macbook and Bali's iPad and her future iHouse (patent pending). Ok, so maybe her head is a little bit forbidden fruit shaped. She likes shooting video (iPhone 4 camera zindabad!) and editing montages (Final Cut Pro zindabad!), whether the scene calls for it or no. In her spare time, she's either kicking it on stage with KB the keyboard or kicking butt at Taekwondo.
