Apple releases iOS 5.0.1 to fix battery issues

Shortly after the launch of the iPhone 4S, users began complaining of some issues that had cropped up in the device's battery. Initially cited as a problem with the iPhone 4S alone, it was only realized later that all iPhones using the new OS were facing the same problem. Apple had acknowledged the problem and promised to issue an update to fix the problem, soon. Keeping up to its words, the tech giant has now released a software update in the form of iOS 5.0.1.

iOS 5.0.1 comes to the rescue

The upgrade not only fixes the battery issue, but also brings in the multi-tasking gesture (presently available in the iPad 2). It has also addressed the most recent security problem, which allowed hackers to steal data by creating an app for the App Store. Moreover, this is Apple’s first upgrade over the air, negating the use of iTunes. Simply, switch on Wi-Fi, enter Settings and click on the software update.

The OS was said to cause the problem, due to some bug, which kept the Setting Time Zone function track location all the time, eventually draining the battery power, even if you hadn’t used the device as much. The new software update to tackle this issue now comes to the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, original and iPad 2 and iPod Touch (third and fourth generations)
