Apple releases iOS 12.1.2 update which fixes prevalent eSIM bugs on 2018 iPhones

Apple has just announced the release of iOS 12.1.2 today which apart from fixing certain bugs related to eSIMs, also carries changes that help Apple mitigate certain patent issues relating to an ongoing patent dispute with Qualcomm.[caption id="attachment_5288701" align="alignnone" width="1024"]

The update may not introduce a bunch of new features, but for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR users, the update fixes an issue with e-SIM activation. The update also addresses an issue that could affect "mobile connectivity in Turkey for all three latest-generation iPhones."To quickly jog your memory, eSIM support was recently enabled for all 2018 iPhones, but things haven't been smooth sailing since then. Hopefully, no more issues pertaining to this function will arise from this point on.

The update should have shown up as an over-the-air update by now already, but in-case you haven't received a notification about it yet, you can manually check for it through Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone.Meanwhile, Qualcomm isn't convince that Apple has done enough to justify misusing its patents. The company in a statement said that Apple "continues to flout the legal system by violating injunctions," despite the iOS release earlier today.
