Apple puts Final Cut Pro 7 back on sale

Apple launched what they thought would be a revolutionary step in video editing, Final Cut Pro X back in June of this year. What they thought was revolutionary was not met with the same reaction by video editing professionals. Other video editing programs like Avid and Adobe Premiere Pro, in fact, took advantage of the negative feedback Apple received with Final Cut Pro X and started offering discounts and special prices for their own products. Apple meanwhile, promised to keep feeding Final Cut Pro X with upgrades so the program would be on par with previous versions of the video editing software.

Due to Final Cut Pro X backlash, FCP 7 is back up

Now, although it's been hush hush, it's been uncovered that Apple has been letting customers purchase the older, legacy version of Final Cut Pro i.e. FCP 7 by calling 1800-MY-APPLE. This purchase is not available online on Apple.com or in retail stores. Customers can only get older versions of the software if they call the Apple phone number. Customers need to ask for Final Cut Studio, part number MB642Z/A. Final Cut Pro 7 is available for $999 (Rs. 45,734) for regular users and $899 (Rs. 41,156) for educational users and includes Final Cut Pro 7, Motion 4, Soundtrack Pro 3, DVD Studio Pro 4, Color 1.5 and Compressor 3.5 in the package. Meanwhile Final Cut Pro X is available for $299.99 (Rs. 13,688) from the Mac App Store with Motion and Compressor being available seperately for $49.99 each (Rs. 2,288).
