App updates you should know: Google+ for iOS, Google Play Newsstand and more!

This week, iOS app updates seem to have burst on the market with a bang. However, this does not mean Android and Windows Phone have stayed far behind. The latter has probably stolen the limelight this week with the release of the much awaited Instagram for Windows Phone app. Take a look at the other app updates that have been making the right noises this week:

Google+ for iOS

This new update is bringing a slew of features to the iOS version of Google+. The app now takes full resolution backups of photos and videos. This feature, however, is restricted to just iOS 7. There’s now an updated design for the notification tray too. You can now translate posts and comments inline in the app. Besides, you will also be able to share your location, see where your friends are and even control who you see on the map.

Tumblr for iOS

Next up, blogging platform Tumblr gets a complete revamp for iOS. It is now iOS friendly, with pretty animations and flat visuals. The app has gone in for a complete makeover for its dashboard along with faster performance. The tag autocomplete feature is now fit in to Tumblr, along with a new post chooser. You can even reblog much faster than before.

SkyDrive for iOS

A shiny new iOS 7 look comes to SkyDrive for iOS and brings along some new features. There’s camera backup for automatically uploading photos and videos to the cloud as well as an improved integration with Office Mobile for iPhone and OneNote. You will also be able to edit Office documents using the app. Of course, there is a bucket-full of bug fixes and performance improvements Microsoft has pumped in to the app.

Google Play Newsstand

The Internet giant has fused Play Magazines and elements of Google Currents into one neat application. You can get free and paid news as well as your magazine subscriptions all in one place. If you had feeds you had subscribed to using Google Currents, don’t worry about them disappearing since Google will make sure Play Newsstand gets all off them.

The app will make a lot more interesting stuff surface when you hit Read Now. The more you surf, the more the app will learn and make sure you see relevant and interesting news. You can follow topic tags to discover related stories and new sources as well. There’s a new offline feature that minimises data and battery usage.
