App updates you should know about: Google Search, Newsstand, Twitter and more!

This past week we saw a slew of app updates. From Google updating many apps from its suite to Pebble finally launching app stores for Android and iOS. Here’s a quick recap of the major app updates this week. Google apps suiteGoogle was on an app updating spree this week. The search giant pushed out updates to its complete suite of apps for Android and also one for iOS. The company will roll out these updates in the next couple of days. Let's look at them one by one: Google Search: The new update to Google Search brings “OK Google” support to Google Now users who’ve set the default language to Canadian English on their Nexus 5.  The Nexus 5 is being shipped running on KitKat launcher dubbed Google Experience that now adds the function to the search bar. In fact, the new update changes the Google Experience launcher to the Google Now launcher, hinting at a deeper integration of the personal assistant into its products.[caption id="attachment_217881" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Google Now launcher[/caption] Google Maps: Google has rolled out an update to its Maps app for both Android and iOS users. It now offers dynamic route changes due to heavy traffic and also keeps one updated whenever a faster route opens up.  Google Drive: Google Drive for Android gets a new update to support animated GIFs, along with a new 1x1 widget that enables faster photo-based document scanning. Google Play Newsstand: Play Newsstand app gets some interesting improvements and also a new widget size. Firstly, the app gets a little makeover. It will now also allow users to activate Mini Cards within the app. This means,  compressing a longer article into shorter snippets for easier consumption. Google Hangouts: Google Hangouts has also rolled out an update for Hangouts. However, there aren’t any major changes. The update focuses on bug fixes and improved performance. Path for AndroidThe new update released by Path for Android allows users to capture video within the app. Now, users can record up to 30 seconds of video and even add filters to it. The feature is already available for iOS users. Users can download Path for Android from the Google Play Store. Pebble app storeThis week Pebble launched its mobile apps for iOS as well as Android users. The mobile apps bring the beta app store for the wearable. As the app is in beta, users may come across some issues. In fact, Pebble has put up a list of known bugs that one may face. Pebble owners can download the app store from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.[caption id="attachment_217307" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Beta app store[/caption] TwitterTwitter has also rolled out a new feature for its iPhone and Android apps. The new update displays the number of retweets, replies and favorites you receive for tweets in your timeline. This may add some peer pressure among Twitter fiends. Twitter for Android and iOS can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store respectively. PinterestDue to more than 75 percent boost in the daily traffic, Pinterest has revamped its mobile site. This improvement is only for those who access Pinterest via its mobile site. Pinterest mobile site now comes with a cleaner user interface and more space for useful as well as related pins.
