AOL Axes Employees for Security Blunder

In the wake of the recent security blunder, search giant America Online (AOL) has sacked its chief technology officer and two other staff members in what has become a huge embarrassment for the online division of Time Warner. Maureen Govern, Chief Technology Officer resigned along with the researcher who released the data on Internet queries from 658,000 users and a supervisor of the employee.The serious privacy blunder that exposed ten million AOL subscribers to the Internet was apologized for. Moreover, AOL accepted that it was possible to trace the users' real identities. An internally circulated email informed all employees of AOL that Ms Govern will temporarily be replaced by John McKinley, AOL's ex chief technology officer. In a further internal announcement, Jonathan Miller, AOL's chief executive, said the company would create a task force for improving privacy controls.
