AnyData Launches USB HSDPA Modem

AnyData has launched a small, USB HSDPA modem for laptops and desktop computers.

Phones are getting faster and faster at Internet access, but what about our poor old laptops? AnyData's new USB modem can connect to HSDPA (3.5G), and UMTS (3G) networks and let you browse the web on your laptop without a having to search for a hotspot.The stick is also backward compatible with GPRS (2.5G) networks as well as dual-band GSM (900/1800) and UMTS (2100) networks. The maximum throughput from the device should be around 7.2MBps.

Coming in the shape of a small 1cm thick USB flash drive, the AnyData ADU-610 is built upon the Qualcomm MSM6280 chipset and it connects via USB to laptops and desktops running Windows Vista as well as Windows XP, coming with WHQL-certified drivers for both.

There's no word on price, but the ADU-610 has been released "to carriers worldwide", according to Slashphone.
