Another study, another 'most influential Indian tweeters' list

A new study aiming to determine who the most influential Indian tweeters are has thrown up an interesting mix of politicians, journalists, businessmen and civil society activists.

The study was carried out by Burson-Marsteller, a leading global public relations and communications firm, with the lofty aim of finding out the most 'influential' tweeters in the G20 countries. However the study is only based on Klout scores. Klout is a tool that analyzes engagement across social networks and scores users based on their influence, how seriously they are taken, how likely people are to act on their tweets and how influential their network is.

Indian firm Pinstorm runs a similar ranking system called the 'India influencers list' which averages a users Klout score and Peer Index score. Peer Index, is like Klout, a social media analytical tool that measures influence.

Unsurprisingly the two lists have very little in common!

According to the Burson-Marsteller study, the ten most influential Twitter accounts in India are (alphabetically):

According to the Pinstorm India Influencers list however, the most influential Indians are celebrities. Priyanka Chopra is right on top with an aggregated score of 85 and is followed by Sashi Tharoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Ram Gopal Varma, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar and Madhuri Dixit. Kiran Bedi comes in at number eight and is followed by Shahrukh Khan and actor Siddarth.
