Android Oreo 8.0 found on a mere 0.2 percent of devices, while Marshmallow has 32 percent share

As per Google’s Play Store distribution data, only 0.2 percent of all Android devices are using the latest update, Android Oreo 8.0. However, among the two updated versions of Android Nougat, just two percent have upgraded to Android Nougat 7.1. Meanwhile, 27.7 percent devices are still stuck with Android Lollipop (5.0).It has been almost a month since the launch of Android Oreo. Considering the fact, the new software update is yet to arrive on smartphones other than the Nexus and Pixel devices, the software may see more adoption in the coming months. However, slow installation base for latest Android OS is a trend that is the norm as we have seen over the years. The massive fragmentation on Android devices is a major factor for this. Barring the Google Pixel and Nexus devices, only Sony Xperia XZ1 has been launched with Android 8.0 Oreo.The devices running Android Oreo at the moment include: Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C tablet, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player and the just announced Sony Xperia XZ1.The website also said that they haven’t taken any data which has 0.1 percent distribution.
