Android Nougat is now available on 13.5 percent of active devices

In its latest report, the Android Developer blog has announced that Android Nougat 7.0 and 7.1 OS is present on 13.5 percent of all active Android devices, as of 8 August.

The release of the next version of Android, named Android O or Android 8.0 is around the corner. But unlike Apple iOS, Google's Android is one of the most fragmented operating systems. In its latest report, the Android Developer blog has announced that Android Nougat 7.0 and 7.1 OS is present on 13.5 percent of all active Android devices, as of 8 August.[caption id="attachment_1966629" align="alignleft" width="380"]Android bot. Reuters[/caption]Android Marshmallow 6.0 still makes up for the highest share among all Android OS sporting devices, at 32.3 percent, followed by Android Lollipop which covers 29.2 percent. Within the Android Nougat OS, the 7.0 version is present on 12.3 percent and 7.1 version is present on 1.2 percent of the devices.Android Nougat share has seen a 2 percent jump from last month's readings. Marshmallow has also seen a minor 0.5 percent rise since last month.The data has been collected from all the devices visiting the Google Play Store in a 7-day period ending on 8 August.[caption id="attachment_3910561" align="alignnone" width="825"]Android OS breakup. Android[/caption]The OpenGL ES version distribution is 37.6 percent, 45.6 percent and 16.8 percent for version 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 respectively.Google has released the final developer preview for Android O. According to Techradar, the APIs have been finalised for developers and the stage is set for an official release of the OS.Android O was announced at the Google I/O 2017.
