Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs gets September 10 release date

The much-delayed indie horror game Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs finally has a release date. According to the  Twitter account of developer The Chinese Room, the game is set to hit digital storefronts on September 10. The game is currently up for pre-order on GOG.com and Desura for $15.99 (Rs 996 approx), but will cost $19.99 (Rs 1,245 approx) on launch. The game will only be available for the PC and so far, there hasn’t been any announcement of a release on consoles.

The development has been taking time because of the optimisations that the game has to go through to be a good experience. According to a developer who goes by the name Jens, "We are optimizing, tweaking and in general putting the FG expertise to good use. TCR keeps putting in work as well. There are companies working on the translations (will launch with 9 languages in addition to original English). The porting guys are porting away. Deals are being made. Things are prepared for launching the game through more online stores than any other FG game before. In general occupied with all things related."

Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs is being developed by Frictional Games in collaboration with The Chinese Room—the studio behind Dear Esther. A Machine For Pigs will be using the same graphical engine as Dear Esther.

The prequel, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, is an indie horror game that received much critical acclaim. The game puts you in a mansion with no memories of how you got there, and the only objective you get is to “Find the Journal”. The original Amnesia is currently available on digital distribution platforms.
