AMD Bring the Fusion APUs to India

AMD's latest lineup of processors is here, less than a month after its launch.

AMD yesterday announced the launch of the Fusion line of Accelerated Processing Units (APUs), which are basically processors and DirectX 11 compliant GPUs rolled into one, in India.

The Fusion line up was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) early last month and while we were expecting them to land here soon, we didn’t expect it to be this soon. Anyway, the first arrivals include the E and C series APUs, codenamed Zacate and Ontario respectively.

E-Series (Zacate): 18W TDP, Core speeds of about 1.6GHz, for notebooks and compact desktops
C-Series (Ontario): 9W TDP, Core speeds of about 1.2GHz, for netbooks.

The more mainstream A-series (Llano), which will have quad-core processors up its sleeve, is expected Q2 2011. Intel, with their Clarkdale series were the first manufacturers to produce APUs, but they don’t feature DX11 support and neither do the new Sandy Bridge series of processors, so AMD have the upper hand in that regard.

Anyway, no pricing details have been revealed, but you can expect systems powered by these APUs to hit the market pretty soon.
