Alienware refreshes Aurora desktop PC with improved processor and GPU

Alienware has announced that its flagship gaming desktop, the Alienware Aurora, has been refreshed with new hardware. The new Alienware desktops bearing the Aurora moniker will run on Intel’s IvyBridge Core i7 processors with overclock speeds up to 4.3 GHz. The graphics on the new Aurora will be handled by Nvidia’s GeForce 700-series and AMD’s 8900-series GPUs.

“Alienware has always pushed the limits with the capabilities of its platforms, and the award-winning Aurora is no different,” said Frank Azor, General Manager, Alienware. “Hardcore gamers around the world will be able to play the latest games at the highest settings, on a system engineered to deliver the ultimate gaming experience for years to come.”

One of the new options for Aurora is the ALX chassis, which according to Alienware, sports an improved thermal management system that monitors key locations within the chassis to ensure optimum heat dissipation. It also has active vents at the top of the chassis for better heat management. Cooling is handled by a liquid cooling setup which makes overclocking more viable.

The Alienware will be available through Dell’s online store in some markets from today. The entry configuration for Aurora now offers 2 terabytes of storage in addition to the unlocked and overclocked Intel Core i7-4820K Ivy Bridge-E processor, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX760 1.5GB DDR5 graphics card, starting at $1,399 (Rs 88,900 approx).
