Adobe unveils its first hardware projects: Mighty and Napoleon

Adobe has announced its first hardware project. The first part of the project is the Mighty, which is a connected pen. The company refers to it as a "cloud pen". The Mighty is pressure sensitive, which helps it draw naturally like one would with a real pencil or pen. It is connected to the Creative Cloud through software and a local Bluetooth LE connection. The pen has a three-sided twisted form that is said to be inspired by the ergonomics of holding a pen.

The second part of the project is codenamed Napoleon. It is a digital ruler that has been designed to work alongside the Mighty. The Napoleon creates a digitally projected edge that can be used to accurately draw shapes and lines. One of its features is the ability to snap to vanishing point, which makes drawing with perspective points in mind easier.

Both the Napoleon and Mighty seem to be working on the iPad as of now, and have been demonstrated working with an unreleased app, which Adobe has said has been designed specifically for the hardware.

The third part, Project Context, is said to be the most ambitious of the lot. When combined with InDesign and the Digital Publishing Suite, Context creates an editorial and publishing environment for publishers. It offers a way to grab assets from anywhere and to collaboratively organise and edit and publish them. Adobe is working with Wired to build the first version of Context as a system to support the editorial and layout process of its magazine.
