Aadhaar Pay app benefits shoppers and merchants as there are no transactions charges

The UIDAI is in the process of rolling out Aadhaar Pay app for merchants. Aimed mostly at rural regions, the Aadhaar Pay for merchants allows customers to make purchases at shops through electronic transactions without having to use plastic cards or mobile phones. The payments are authenticated through a biometric scanner, with the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System implemented. After signing up for the program, the merchant gets a link to download the application through an SMS. An Android smartphone is linked to the biometric scanner, which authenticates the transaction.The UIDAI has recently re-affirmed that the Aadhaar based payment systems are safe and secure, and strong cryptographic measures are taken whenever user data is stored or transmitted.Aadhaar Pay for merchants is expected to be launched on four major banks soon, including SBI.
