5 Million OLPCs To Be Shipped By End Of '07
OLPC inches closer to a mass rollout and expects to ship nearly 5 million pieces by the end of the year.

The OLPC is slowly but surely marching closer to a mass rollout. According to this report, there will be about 5 million shipped by the end of 2007. By the end of February the second set of trials of the OLPC will begin i.e. the laptops will be put through actual in-field use with children.
The five million XO's expected to ship this year will find their way to various countries. These include Argentina, Brazil, Libya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Thailand and Uruguay. Though there was a doubt, on the inclusion of Thailand in this list following the recent coup the issue was sorted out by OLPC representatives. They visited Thailand and managed to convince the newly formed government to rejoin the project.
