2017 Apple iPhone range to feature 3 GB of RAM and faster charging support

By now we have a fair idea that Apple is planning to launch three iPhones this year. The rumours and speculations have been pointing to two regular updates for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus as well as a new, larger 5.8-inch iPhone.A recent report suggests that Apple will be fitting all three iPhones for 2017 with 3 GB of RAM. Currently the iPhone 7 features 2 GB of RAM and the iPhone 7 Plus has 3 GB.The report comes from Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri. An excerpt from Arcuri's late March research note states,In terms of memory/storage configuration, all three models will likely adopt 3 GB RAM; the 4.7-inch/5.5-inch will likely have the same storage options as the current iPhone 7/7+ in 32/128/256 GB while the 5.8-inch model looks to be only offered in two memory configurations: 64 GB and 256 GB. Finally, the 5.8-inch model will likely have extended battery life with two packs of batteries.Arcuri also mentioned that all three 2017 iPhone models will continue to use lightning connectors but will have USB Type-C Power Delivery for faster charging. This is in line with a recent report from the Wall Street Journal, which hinted that Apple will use a USB Type-C port (which is very unlikely). It turns out that it might only use the USB Type-C charging standards. Given that the new MacBook Pros from Apple don't offer any other port, this should have happened last year.There has also been a report where KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the upcoming iPhone 8 and updated iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will all feature wireless charging support.
