Microsoft to take over Nokia headquarters in 2014 after deal

Helsinki: Nokia says its headquarters near the Finnish capital will be taken over by Microsoft on completion of the sale of its cellphone and services division to the US software company, expected in early 2014.The majority of the 1,900 workers, in the devices and services, unit will remain in the building in Espoo as employees of Microsoft Corp.[caption id="attachment_895659" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Reuters[/caption]Nokia Corp announced the move Thursday, two days after shareholders overwhelmingly approved the 5.4 billion-euro ($7.2 billion) sale to Microsoft of the devices and services unit and a license to a portfolio of patents. Some 32,000 Nokia employees worldwide will move over to Microsoft once the deal is closed.Last year, the struggling cellphone maker sold its headquarters to investors for 170 million euros ($220 million) but leased back the building.Associated Press
