LG launches Optimus G2 with Snapdragon 800 processor and 'rear buttons'

LG has finally launched its new smartphone the Optimus G2 which is a follow-up to its previous flagship device, the Optimus G.The smartphone has a 5.2-inch full HD screen with 1080 x 1920 pixels which comes to 423 pixels per inch. The device also comes with a 13 megapixel rear camera with Optical Image stabilisation (OIS) technology as well (LG says this is the only 13 megapixel camera with OIS technology). The front camera is 2.1 megapixels.The G2 is also the first smartphone with a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor (first revealed at CES 2013) and it is clocked at 2.26 GHz. The phone also has quad-core Adreno 330 GPU for Graphics. The smartphone has 3000 mAh battery.Initially LG is launching the smartphone in the US and the device will be rolled out globally over the next few weeks.According to LG, the G2 features 24-bit, 192kHz sound, which is higher than the sound quality from an audio CD or MP3. LG is called this Studio Quality Hi-Fi sound. LG also said the phone will ship with ringtones optimised for 24-bit/192kHz.In terms of design LG has done something radical and shifted all the buttons to the rear. There are no side buttons in this smartphone. According to the company, moving the main buttons to the back of the phone gave users more control since this place was where individuals' index fingers are naturally located. Researchers found that moving the buttons also resulted in fewer dropped phones when adjusting the volume while talking.
