Sony’s ‘PlayStation Meeting 2016’ is scheduled for today. Yes, the same day that Apple is gearing up to announce the new iPhones. On the off-chance that you won’t actually be following Apple’s keynote today at 10:30 PM IST, here’s how you can catch up on Sony’s PlayStation event, which is scheduled for 12:30 AM IST on 8 September. That’s about 30 minutes after Apple’s keynote ends. The event will be live-streamed on Sony’s PlayStation Blog here and on their Twitch stream here. We’ve also embedded the stream below so you can have a peek whenever you feel like it.The only update today is that the PlayStation VR headset will be accompanied by a demo disk containing 8 VR-ready games. The following games are included in the disc:
The real star of the show is expected to be the PlayStation Neo. We’ve already written a great deal about the console in the past, suffice to say that it’s a new generation console that’s about 2.5 times as powerful as the current PS4.The Neo isn’t officially a new generation console and considered to be more of an upgrade because its architecture remains largely the same. It’s the equivalent of swapping out the CPU in your PC.The console is claimed to offer 4K gaming, but judging from leaked specs so far, we seriously doubt those claims. It is, however, perfect for the PlayStation VR headset.Sony says that all games built for the Neo will have to be compatible with the older PS4, thus ensuring that gamers will not be left in the lurch.PlayStation SlimThink of this console as Sony’s answer to the Microsoft’s Xbox One S. The Xbox One S is a slimmer version of the Xbox One with 4K video playback and HDR support. The PlayStation Slim may not actually offer much more than a slimmer body, however.Still, we’re basing all of this on rumours. Let’s see what the event actually has in store for us, however.
