Tech2.Games S01E10: Poorly received remasters and getting your Dunkirk fix outside the cinema
If you have just watched Christopher Nolan’s new slam dunk Oscar venture and you like to play video games, we have a special suggestion for you.

Hey there, it’s been quite the busy week of character additions to games. Among other things, Overwatch hero Doomfist punched his way into the hands of the public, as did Tekken 7’s Eliza. While the former is a free addition to the game, Bandai Namco is asking a fourth of the cost of the Tekken 7 base game for the new character (but everyone knows vampire characters are totally worth it).[caption id="attachment_3883777" align="alignleft" width="380"]
Tech2.Games[/caption]Meanwhile, Konami’s August 2017 content update revealed that Revolver Ocelot will be playable in Metal Gear Solid V’s FOB missions. Meanwhile, in the world of historical turn-based strategy games, an addition more important than any of characters was made when Civilization VI finally got a restart button.FoxholeIf you’ve not been living in a bunker, chances are you’ve heard about Chris Nolan’s new slam dunk Oscar venture, Dunkirk. If you play video games, chances are that in the immediate aftermath of a surprisingly emotional matinee, you began hunting for an equivalent interactive experience. Might I suggest Foxhole? It’s an MMO war simulator with some interesting ideas, allowing players to contribute in a variety of ways such logistics, construction or combat. It’s still in early access, so expect some rough edges, and expect to sink some time into it before you get a feel for the game’s deliberate pacing.Steam users open fire on standalone Call of Duty: Modern Warfare RemasteredIn some news which will surprise nobody, Activision willingly opened the floodgates to a world of pain on 27 July. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was released as a standalone title to little fanfare on PS4 last month, and is now available to purchase on PC and Xbox One as well. As you would expect, Steam users tore into the game.If it wasn’t bad enough that a decade-old game was still priced at Rs 1,300, the remaster costs over twice as much, and does not feature the free downloadable content which came with the original release. Other complaints include the lack of basic PC features such as an FOV slider, poor optimization and the random reward loot box system which gamers love and hate (rather conveniently at the same time).Titanfall 2’s Frontier Defense returns, and it’s amazingTitanfall’s four player co-operative horde mode has now been added in the form of a free update to Titanfall 2, and it’s a lot of fun. I got to play around with it for a few hours and ended up liking it more than expected—the difficulty levels seem right, there’s a sense of progression, and teamwork is rewarded. If you like horde modes and giant robots, you can’t do much better than Titanfall 2’s Frontier Defense. It’s a refreshing change of pace from the game’s otherwise frantic player-versus-player modes, as well as a great way to level up weapons and Titans while experimenting with new loadouts. The game gets added to EA Access and Origin Access on 1st August, so you can expect a player base spike as well. It’s worth checking out.Destiny 2 PC beta dates and recommended specs revealedYep, we’ve finally got some details on Destiny 2’s PC beta via Bungie’s weekly update. If you’ve pre-ordered the game, you’ll be able to put on your Dawnbreaker pants come 28 August (10:30 PM IST, one would assume). If not, it’s one day later, with the beta running until 31 August. What’s more, minimum and recommended specs were revealed as well.Minimum: Core i3-3250/AMD FX-4350 + GTX 660 2 GB/Radeon HD 7850 2 GB + 6 GB RAMRecommended: Core i5-2400/AMD Ryzen R5 1600X + GTX 970/Radeon R9 390 + 8 GB RAMThere’s more info in the link to the weekly update.Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice gets a launch trailer with unintelligible voiceoverMove over, Tom Hardy, there’s a new king of random-noises-masquerading-as-monologue in town. Ninja Theory’s (Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, DmC: Devil May Cry) latest hack-and-slash Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice comes to PS4 and PC on 8 August. I strongly recommend turning on the subtitles while watching the trailer below. If that didn’t convince you, it might be best to check out this 10-minute gameplay video IGN posted a few days back.Deals and free stuffJust Cause 3 and Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry are free on PS4 this month for PS+ subscribers, while Doom multiplayer is free on PS4 as well.Boss Key Production’s team based shooter LawBreakers has an open beta running until 31 July, while Xbox Live Gold members can try Diablo III for free until the same date.
