Supergiant Studios just announced its new isometric action role playing title set in a mystical purgatory
Supergiant Games are known for its critically acclaimed isometric RPG titles with quirky art. Bastion, their first game was released in 2011 and was an fantasy action role playing game. Transistor, released in 2014, is a science fiction action role playing game. Supergiant just announced its third title, Pyre.
Pyre will be another isometric action rpg, a style that Supergiant has honed over two titles. The setting will be a mystical purgatory. Players will lead a band of exiles across this realm, participating in an ancient competition. The competition is called "The Rites" and is a way for the exiled to return to their home realm. This seems to indicate that at the start of the game, you are being punished for some crimes, that can be forgiven by winning The Rites. Through the game, players will interact with a vast cast of characters. The game also promises an immersive, atmospheric environment and fast paced action during the combat.
Pyre will be initially available on Steam and PS4. The Steam page for the game is already up, and interested gamers can add it to their wishlists right away. If platform availability of the previous titles are anything to go by, an iOS launch of the game can be expected a year after the console and PC launch.
