Homefront: The Revolution is launching tomorrow. The game takes place in an alternate future where North Korea wins a series of battles against the United States, and establishes military control over cities including Philadelphia. The Korean technology and weapons company Apex, sells the United States trillions of dollars worth of equipment to fight guerrilla wars in the Middle East. This puts the United States heavily in debt to North Korea, which decides to collect the debt.The gameplay takes place across three districts in Philadelphia, with varying degrees of control by the Korean People's Army (KPA). The hostile takeover is covered with the glamour of appearing to be a humanitarian gesture. The resistance is strong in a bombed out district. There are crowds and surveillance by drones in the slum district. The green district has a smooth supply of utilities such as electricity and water, but is mostly controlled by the KPA, with the resistance being weak.Gameplay is in an open world setting. Weapons can be modified in the middle of a gun fight. This allows a semi-automatic to switch to a rifle and vice versa for example. While the original Homefront had a competitive player vs player mode, Homefront: The Revolution will have a cooperative player vs enemy mode. This mode is a separate campaign from the single player mode, and is much more difficult. Eurogamer has put up an hour's worth of gameplay footage, for those who cannot wait for the game to release.Homefront: The Revolution had a slightly troubled development cycle. The original owners of the intellectual property, Crytek, sold the franchise to Koch Media because of internal restructuring. The existing team developing the project was put under a new company by the name of Dambuster Studios. The game will be available on 17 May for PC, Linux, Mac, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The pre-purchase is still available on Steam for Rs 1,179.
