Palmer’s legacy extends far beyond Oculus. His inventive spirit helped kickstart the modern VR revolution and helped build an industry. We’re thankful for everything he did for Oculus and VR, and we wish him all the best."At this very moment there is no clear explanation as to why Palmer quit. And the news comes just after the first anniversary of the consumer launch of its Rift virtual reality headset. As per Ars Technica, the Oculus rift founder went into hiding after The Daily Beast revealed his financial links to an odd Donald Trump shitposting group. Even though Luckey apologized,  there was severe backlash among members of the VR community. Post this incident Palmer stayed off the radar and only appeared at the Zenimax trial in January when the software giant accused Oculus of misappropriating trade secrets. While most of the Zenimax' allegations were shot down, the court ruled that Facebook owed Zenimax $300 million. Luckey himself is liable for $50 million.
