CES 2014: Intel launches Edison, a comp the size of an SD card

Intel Corporation today launched Edison, a computer which is the size of an SD card, at the Consumer and Electronics Show (CES) in 2014. Intel's company CEO Brian Krzanich showed off the miniature computer, which is built on the company's 22nm transistor technology. It is powered by Intel's new Quark technology-based processor.According to Intel's press release the Edison is aimed or ultra-small and low power-sensitive, Internet of Things edge devices, smart consumer products and wearable computing. It has NAND flash memory storage as well but Intel has not specified how much memory.[caption id="attachment_1326087" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Intel has also made sure that the Edison has its own app store. According to Engadget, Krzanich said that he hopes that the Edison will be used to build the next generation of wearable and connected devices.Intel has also announced the "Make it Wearable" competition for developers. The company wants developers to design the next generation of wearable devices and smart computing devices, and has offered up to 1.3 million in prizes for developers who design such wearable tech.
