Apple patents new design for iPhone, iPad and Mac, future devices may come with multiple Action buttons

Apple seems to be gearing up for another leap in device innovation. A recently published patent suggests the tech giant might be planning to add multiple Action Buttons to future iterations of its iPhones, iPads, and Macs. 

This feature, first introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max last year, and later extended across the iPhone 16 series, has gained traction for its customisability. Now, Apple appears to be thinking bigger, exploring ways to bring this functionality to a wider range of devices.

Multiple buttons, more possibilities

The patent hints at a significant evolution for Apple devices. Reports suggest that future iPhones may have volume rockers doubling as programmable buttons, complete with haptic feedback for a tactile experience.

This means users could potentially repurpose volume controls for specific tasks, adding versatility to everyday interactions. The patent also indicates that these configurable buttons might find their way to iPads, Macs, and other Apple gadgets, although their arrival on non-iPhone devices could take some time.
