30% of users returning the Galaxy gear smartwatch in the UK: Leaked documents

Samsung is planning a roll-out of support to their Galaxy Gear Watch to four of the most popular devices in the Galaxy family after reports that the new device is being returned in 30% of sales at Best Buy shops.[caption id="attachment_1199051" align="alignleft" width="380"] Galaxy Gear smartwatch, AFP image[/caption]A document which was leaked to tech website Geek.com shows that the Galaxy Gear smartwatch has a significantly higher than normal return rate. "Samsung has found that more than 30% of Galaxy Gear purchases are returned in Best Buy locations, and they have asked that Samsung employees on site help try to figure out why this is," says the website.The smartwatch is retailing for 299 pounds in the United Kingdom.Support for the Note 2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy S4 Active will be added to the Android 4.3 update that is headed to those phones.The Gear can be used to make and answer calls and view messages and notifications, but it is only compatible with Samsung smartphones and is considered limited by some."For now, what you can read on the watch is infuriatingly limited: emails and text messages, yes, but not via the Gmail app, which millions of Android users have as their main email service by default. This has to get better if this technology is to take off," says a review of the smartwatch in the Telegraph.
