World T20: Sehwag out for two weeks with ankle injury

Virender Sehwag's tryst with bad luck and injury has continued. India were not just knocked out of the World T20 tournament but they also saw their opener limp off the ground after a strained ligament in his left ankle during India's final Super Eights match in the World Twenty20 against South Africa in Colombo.The injury happened just around the time Rohit Sharma took a catch to send back South African batsman Jacques Kallis. The team was celebrating but Sehwag seemed to collapse in pain. He, then, needed to be helped off the field. The injury means that he is doubtful for the Delhi Daredevils in the Champions League T20 which begins from 13 October.The Indian team's media manager said that Sehwag has been advised two weeks rest.Sehwag had a poor World Twenty20 competition, scoring only 54 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 112 and was even dropped for India's first game of the Super 8 stage against Australia.[caption id="attachment_477372" align="alignleft" width="380"] Virender Sehwag's tryst with bad luck and injury has continued. AP[/caption]Just before the last IPL, Sehwag had overcome injury to declare himself fit for the tournament. Of course, that decision had come after he had been 'rested' for the Asia Cup on account of a sore shoulder.Selection committee chief Krishnamachari Srikkanth had insisted that Sehwag had been 'rested' due to a sore shoulder but the opener had said that he had back spasms and had opted for rest as per the physio's advice.Let's hope we don't have a repeat of the same. He can certainly give the Champions League a 'rest' this time round and get ready for England.
