IOC says it will lift India ban only after fresh polls

International Olympic Committee member Randhir Singh says the body will consider lifting a ban on the Indian Olympic Association only if it holds free and fair elections based on the Olympic charter.[caption id="attachment_588973" align="alignleft" width="380"] The President of the IOC, Jacques Rogge: AP[/caption]Randhir said Tuesday the IOC has written to him asking for fresh elections and will not engage with the IOA office-bearers elected last month in polls already declared illegal by the IOC over the manner of their conduct. Abhay Singh Chautala was elected IOA president and Lalit Bhanot the secretary-general in last month's elections.Randhir, who was the secretary-general before the latest elections, says the IOC is open to meeting Indian government representatives and has also warned other national associations not to be associated with Chautala and other officials who are currently running the IOA.Associated Press
