How Harvard students should prepare for Alex Ferguson's lectures

As news broke of Harvard Business School snapping up Alex Ferguson as a lecturer on a long-term deal, jokes have been flying on how students should prepare for his class. He will lecture to senior executives from around the world as part of a new program — "The Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports."We asked our followers on Twitter how those attending the class should prepare, and what they should expect in Ferguson's lecture. We added a little input from the sports desk and came up with this list. Getty Images[/caption]1) Get band-aid to class: Ferguson's infamous temper made its greatest mark on David Beckham's eyebrow after the manager kicked a boot towards him during an angry team talk. The incident was probably the final nail in a strained relationship — and Beckham soon left for Real Madrid after that. It was recently disclosed that he had to be restrained from going up to Ferguson in retaliation. Fergie is also known to send crockery flying across the dressing room. So, do your homework execs, or a boot may come flying at you.

2) Be ready to leave late: Ferguson would point at his watch as the clock neared 90 minutes and his team needed another goal or two to get a result in extra-time. With so many opponents hassled by his ability to coax a few extra seconds and get a result, this came to be known as 'Fergie-time' — the most famous incident being the seven added minutes in a Manchester derby where United came from behind against rivals Manchester City, with Michael Owen scoring the winning goal in a 4-3 win. Judging by how good Ferguson's team was in extra-time, there's no reason to believe he'll let his students leave when the bell rings.

3) Don't dry hair after your bath: This one's easy, cause you're going to get a hairdryer treatment anyway. As United legend Ryan Giggs once said, he quaked in his pants even after playing under him for his whole career. Such is the Ferguson hairdryer.

4) Chew, chew, chew: Have you ever seen Ferguson not chewing? It would be remarkably interesting to know how many packs of chewing gum he went through during his time at Old Trafford — the man was always chewing! As one Twitter follower said, the whole class should chew with him for the sake of being in sync with what was being said.

5) Watch/listen to Scottish people: Have a Scottish friend? Have a movie with a Scottish actor in it? If not those, then listen to radio stations in Scotland. Just make sure you listen to something Scottish so that the lecture doesn't go over the head. Ferguson may have been in England for more than 25 years, but the working-class background manager retains strong roots, and a strong accent.
