44 from Mumbai rave party test positive for drugs: sources

The tests of IPL players Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell, who were also held from the same premises have not yet come in.

Forty-four out of the total 46 people held from the rave-party which was busted in late May at Hotel Oakwoods in Juhu have tested positive for drugs, CNN-IBN reported. Twenty-six of the 44 were tested positive for charas.The tests of IPL players Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell, who were also held from the same premises, have not yet come in.[caption id="attachment_354606" align="alignleft" width="380" caption="Police detained about a 100 people after the party was busted on the night of 20th May. PTI"][/caption]The controversy rocked the IPL but both players have gone on record saying that they were not at the rave party but were invited for a birthday party in the same hotel.Police detained about a 100 people after the party was busted on the night of 20th May.Sharma had said after the incident: "I know I am innocent, if the reports (of blood tests) are positive, I will leave cricket. As I went in around 8.45pm at the restaurant, I saw police everywhere. They called me, asked me a few routine questions, took my samples and let me off. I am not scared because I have not done anything wrong."Wayne Parnell also denied any wrong-doing: "We weren’t aware of any drugs there and it wasn’t any rave party. It was just unfortunate that were there."Following the late-night raid, Additional Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nagre Patil said that about 110 grams of cocaine had been seized along with other popular drugs.Click here for the full report.
