Prez poll: AP Cong legislators to meet for 'mock poll'

Hyderabad: A meeting of the ruling Congress legislators in Andhra Pradesh will be held here tomorrow with a view to acquaint them with the voting procedure for the July 19 Presidential election."A mock poll will be conducted in the meeting to be held at Jubilee Hall, situated in the premises of Legislative Assembly building, for the benefit of the legislators," Congress Whip in the Assembly E Anil told reporters today.[caption id="attachment_380512" align="alignleft" width="380"] The AP Congress legislators will meet to familiarise themselves with the voting procedure.[/caption]Congress Chief Whip G Venkata Ramana Reddy will act as the election agent for UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee. A communication has been sent to all MLAs and MLCs to attend tomorrow's meeting without fail, Anil said.Meanwhile, authorities began making arrangements for the Thursday's Presidential election in the Assembly buildings. Congress has a strength of 155 in a house of 294. Besides Congress, Mukherjee would also get the support of the seven-member Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, which is a part of theUPA.Though the YSR Congress Party of Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is yet to announce its stand officially, it is believed that the party (with a strength of 17 MLAs and two MPs) might support Mukherjee.The main opposition Telugu Desam and TRS have also not announced their position on the Presidential poll. However, TRS might abstain from voting, party sources said.PTI
