Police questions Owaisi over hate speech

Hours after Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi landed in Hyderabad, the Hyderabad Police reached his residence to question him.[caption id="attachment_580164" align="alignleft" width="380"] Owaisi.[/caption]According to an IBN Live report, the police, who have been criticised for not acting on time and apprehending Owaisi after his divisive anti-Hindu speech, went on with the questioning even as the MIM leader filed a writ petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking a stay on arrest and filing of more FIRs on similar grounds.Owaisi, who represents Chandrayangutta Assembly constituency, has been booked under Sec 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) and Sec 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) of IPC.The police and the Hyderabad government had drawn nationwide flak for not facilitating the arrest of the MIM leader immediately after his hate speech surfaced on the web.
