Narayan Rane meets Rahul to discuss issues behind his resignation

Congress leader Narayan Rane on Friday met Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi to discuss the issues raised by him when he put in his resignation and to explain his stand of resigning from Maharashtra cabinet.Earlier this week, Rane quit as from the post of industries minister from the Maharashtra cabinet, having lashed out at Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan for his slow decision making. "I told him about why I am upset with the party and told him the reasons behind my resignation. He gave me a patient hearing and the meeting was positive,” said Rane after meeting Gandhi at his residence in Delhi. Rane, who is upset with the party for not giving him the top post in the state, is eyeing for a bigger role in the party with a view of the upcoming assembly election.[caption id="attachment_1633071" align="alignleft" width="380"] Narayan Rane. Ibnlive[/caption]This meeting comes two days after the meeting between Rane and CM Chavan failed to resolve the deadlock over his resignation from the state cabinet. “Rahul has said he will meet with Congress president Sonia Gandhi to discuss the issue. I will take the final call after meeting her,” he added stating that he would not hesitate to play a bigger role if offered by the party.On Monday, Rane had said that Chavan has not fast-tracked the decision making process and many issues have been pending for more than two years. “Strong measures should have been taken after the Lok Sabha elections got over but that has not been done. The results of the Lok Sabha election are likely to be repeated in the upcoming Assembly election if we contest under the leadership of Chavan. I don’t want to be part of it as a minister, which is why I have quit from the cabinet,” he said.
