What netas managed to push before model code of conduct

For any incumbent government, the hours before the imposition of the model code of conduct is the last chance to cut ribbons and push through some final sops to remain in the hearts of voters during the polls. Yesterday, when the election commission announced the poll schedule the model code of conduct came into effect with immediate effect but here's who managed to beat the deadline:Pranab Mukherjee: The President's office reportedly worked well into the night to clear Sheila Dikshit's name as governor of Kerala, says the Indian Express.Defence Ministry: An early morning press release at 7:30 am highlighting the achievements of Defence Minister AK Antony in his term as defence minister.Law Ministry: Works into early hours of Wednesday to finalise documents on reservation for members of Jat community.[caption id="attachment_1421913" align="alignleft" width="380"] The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister inaugurating the Lucknow Metro. PTI[/caption]Ministers on inauguration spree: The Indian Express report also documents how ministers like Pallam Raju, Jitendra Singh managed to beat the code of conduct with early morning inaugurations of a new guest house and new sports facilities respectively. Some like minister of state for railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury managed to push through additional stops for trains in tribal areas in West Bengal.Veerappa Moily: Ministry issues statement saying that plantations, agricultural land in Kerala will be kept out of areas demarcated as ecologically sensitive areas in the Western Ghats. Says other states can also forward similar proposals and it will consider them.Chief Ministers heli-hop to cut ribbons: The Times of India reports how chief ministers across states shuttled and pushed through last minute decisions to be able to take credit for them in the upcoming polls. Akhilesh Yadav managed to launch an industrial corridor and launched the Lucknow Metro. In Karnataka, Siddaramaiah laid the foundation stone of a Rs 1,450 crore rail coach factory. MP's Shivraj Singh Chouhan also managed to push through a set of sops including Rs 2,000 crore for farmers.Who didn't make it in time: Minister of State V Narayanasamy was to hold a press conference which was subsequently cancelled. Oil Minister Veerappa Moily cancelled three events in his home state. Siddaramiah was also to announce a range of road works in Belgaum which he eventually scrapped because he failed to meet the Election Commission deadline. In Mumbai, Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam failed to meet the deadline and couldn't inaugurate a scheme to supply piped gas to cluster houses. While the state leaders can afford to wait till the national polls pass, the national leaders may not be as lucky.
