Kejriwal calls in sick, but free water decision may not be hit

It was to be a day of major announcements but newly appointed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was unable to leave home today after coming down with a bug.Kejriwal was scheduled to meet with Delhi Jal Board officials today and was expected to announce the party's pre-poll promised scheme of 700 litres of water per household in the national capital.Instead he announced on Twitter that he was taking a day off, with two tweets:

The AAP's new chief minister had only yesterday met with hundreds of people who had come to meet with him over various issues.[caption id="attachment_1313419" align="alignleft" width="380"] Kejriwal has been nursing a cough since the Delhi elections. PTI[/caption]According to CNN-IBN, Kejriwal's condition was bad enough for doctors to consider putting him on intravenous fluids to ensure he recovered quickly."He(Arvind Kejriwal)was keen on going to Secretariat, important announcements were to be made, but have advised him to rest," Dr Vipin Mittal, Kejriwal's doctor, said.However, despite his ailment, Kejriwal may still attempt to push through the proposed water reforms that he had promised during the pre-poll campaign.According to an NDTV report, Kejriwal, could go ahead with the Delhi Jal Board meeting at his residence this evening in order to announce the decision before a 10 per cent hike in water tariffs comes into effect from 1 January. CNN-IBN reported that the Delhi Jal Board officials will meet at 4 pm today and in all likelihood could make the contentious announcement later this evening.
