In 2014, 131,666 people committed suicide in India according to the National Crime Record Bureau report on Crime in India, 2014.

A staggering 30,659 males between the age of 30-45 committed suicide last year, while the age bracket of 18-30 saw the highest suicide among women, 17,527.
Going by the profession, 20,148 housewives committed suicides, followed by 15,735 daily wage earners. Farmer, the most covered of all groups, saw 5,650 suicides.
