Five things you shouldn't do while sending greetings this Diwali
In an attempt to wish everyone you know on Diwali, here are some tips to follow to ensure your message is remembered.

Diwali is not essentially a great time to be on Facebook, or BBM or to even have a phone at times. If online shopping portals are not flooding you with offers on everything from shoes and cutlery, there's the very concerned colleague who is sending you the whole Gayatri Mantra on a five-sms-long message. Here's our list of what not to do, if you don't want your friends to be cursing you on Diwali.1. Do not put up garish pictures of diyas and rangolis, randomly downloaded from the net or found on Facebook and tag the whole friend list, to get over with a slip shod Diwali wish. It's pretty spectacular that you wish each friend, school-enemy, friend's boyfriend you have a crush on, ex-boss you don't like. In that case show it by sending a personal message addressing them by name. For half a day, you can afford skipping album-stalking and do that instead.2. Don't forward a 'forward'. Unless of course it's ego-flattering one to get three versions of your message back as a Diwali wish, you'd be better off saying, 'Hey, Happy Diwali', rather than sending five disastrously poetic lines on all the prosperity you wish your friend.[caption id="attachment_523135" align="alignleft" width="435"]

If the person on the other side gets three messages-worth broken punctuation symbols while burning crackers or downing his drinks, you'll only be dismissed for being a show-off. Great you have a cool phone. Only, show off a few days later.4. No Dear Sir/Madam please on that mail to your client. For a change Sir, if he is of any importance to you, deserves to be told apart from Madam. And vice-versa.5. Don't wish if you don't care. It shows and it's annoying. Imagine your phone inbox spilling over with the same message from five different people when your best friend is giving you live updates on Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which of course are failing to wade through the hundred random forwards. Not much happy a Diwali right?(And in the spirit of Diwali, here's a bonus tip)6. If you've gotten tickets for the Yash Chopra biggie, don't bulk text who gets the guy in the film. You don't want @^**as a Diwali message right?
