Manish Malhotra to make historic Paris Haute Couture Week debut in July 2026

Indian fashion is set for a major moment in Paris this summer. The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode has unveiled the provisional calendar for Paris Haute Couture Week, confirming that the House of Manish Malhotra will make its official debut during the July 2026 season.

It marks the designer's first appearance on the prestigious haute couture calendar and a significant milestone for a label that has spent more than three decades shaping India's fashion landscape.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Malhotra wrote, "An honour to be on the official calendar of Haute Couture Week Paris July 2026... #MadeInIndia once again takes global stage."

Best known for defining Bollywood glamour across generations, Malhotra has increasingly expanded his presence beyond film and bridal couture in recent years. His Paris debut places the designer alongside some of the biggest names in global fashion and signals another step forward for Indian craftsmanship on the international stage.

A spotlight on Indian craftsmanship

The Paris showcase is also a significant moment for the artisans and craft traditions that have long been central to the House of Manish Malhotra.

Over the years, the designer has worked with craftspeople across the country, incorporating techniques such as chikankari, zardozi and Kashmiri embroidery into contemporary couture. These handcrafted traditions have become a signature part of the label's identity, appearing across bridal collections, red-carpet looks and occasion wear.

The upcoming Fall/Winter 2026–27 couture presentation will bring those techniques to one of fashion's most influential stages, offering an international audience a closer look at the artistry behind Indian couture.

In recent years, Malhotra has also strengthened his global profile by dressing international celebrities and showcasing artisan-led creations at major events, including the Met Gala.

Joining fashion's biggest names

According to the provisional schedule, Malhotra has secured an evening slot at 8 pm on July 8.

He joins a packed couture calendar featuring some of the industry's most influential houses, including Chanel, Dior, Schiaparelli, Armani Privé, Iris van Herpen and Elie Saab.

The week will also see several closely watched creative debuts. Pierpaolo Piccioli is set to unveil his first couture collection for Balenciaga, while Duran Lantink will make his guest-designer debut at Jean Paul Gaultier.

Malhotra will also share the season with emerging talents such as Michael Stewart of Standing Ground, winner of the Savoir-Faire Prize at the 2024 LVMH Prize.

India's growing presence in Paris

The debut places Malhotra among a small group of Indian designers who have showcased their work within the Paris haute couture ecosystem.

Designer Rahul Mishra became the first Indian couturier to be invited as a guest member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in 2020 and has since become a regular fixture on the couture calendar. His success helped open new conversations around Indian craftsmanship and couture on the global stage.

For decades, Indian artisans have contributed to luxury fashion houses around the world, often working behind the scenes on intricate embroidery and handwork. Designers such as Rahul Mishra and now Manish Malhotra are helping bring that craftsmanship to the forefront under Indian labels.
