CBI team probing UGC-NET paper-leak case harassed in Bihar, 4 arrested

A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the UGC-NET case was on Sunday heckled in Bihar.

The CBI is investigating the case of the leak of question paper and other irregularities related to the UGC-NET exam. Earlier this week, the Centre had cancelled the UGC-NET exam after it found that the paper had been leaked and was circulating on messaging application Telegram.

The Centre had handed over the investigation to the CBI.

During the course of the investigation, a CBI team had gone to Kasiadeeh village in Bihar's Nawada district. The PTI quoted officials as saying that a mob gathered around the CBI vehicles and heckled the agency's personnel. Following the incident, the CBI reached out to the district police which dispatched force to the site to deal with the situation.

Following the incident, four persons were arrested by the police, said officials.

The police registered an FIR over the incident and booked those arrested on charges of assault and disrupting the work of government officials.

In the case of the UGC-NET exam, the Centre had said that it got inputs from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (l4C) that the paper had been leaked on the darknet and was being sold for Rs 5-6 lakhs on messaging platforms like Telegram.

Bihar is also at the centre of alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam. The paper in the exam was allegedly leaked and the Centre on Saturday handed over the investigation in the case to the CBI.
