Trainee sub-inspector found dead in lake in MP, cops say not linked to Vyapam scam

After two controversial deaths in connection with the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, trainee sub-inspector Anamika Kushwaha who was hired through the state's controversial recruitment process committed suicide in Sagar Police Academy in Madhya Pradesh .Kushwaha was recruited through the controversial Vyapam scam, causing Opposition members to cry foul play and strengthen their call for a CBI probe into the matter.[caption id="attachment_2328320" align="alignleft" width="380"] Vyapam logo. Image Courtesy: www.vyapam.nic.in[/caption]The trainee police official was found dead in a lake in the police training academy where she was stationed, according to TV reports.Police suspect it to be a case of suicide.The body of trainee sub-inspector, Anamika Sikarwar (25),was found in the lake adjacent to the Police Training  Academy in Sagar district headquarters, City  Superintendent of Police (CSP) Gautam Solanki said.Anamika was married and a resident of Morena district.She was selected as sub-inspector in an exam conducted byVyapam.However, the police official said that her selection has nothing to do with Vyapam scam and she was not a suspected beneficiary.She was found missing from her room and later her body was found in the lake. It is suspected to be a case of suicide, he said.Police rushed her immediately to the district hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. The cops have sealed her room in the academy and so far no suicide note has been found. The exact cause will be known after a probe, Solanki said adding initial investigations are on in the case.However, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh tweeted about the incident saying:The Vyapam scam or the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) Scam has become notorious scam for one reason – more than 40 people associated with the scam have died since the story broke in 2013.The deaths include accused, witnesses as now even journalist who was investigating the story, and all have largely been under mysterious circumstances.Two people have died in strange circumstances on Sunday. One was the Dean of a Jabalpur Medical College Dr Arun Sharma and the other is Aaj Tak journalist Akshay Singh, who was covering the scam.While BJP spokesperson GVL Narsimha Rao from the BJP while speaking on Jabalpur medical dean Arun Sharma's death, said his demise was completely natural and not related to Vyapam Scam.However, the opposition has questioned the MP government's reluctance for a CBI probe."The centre cannot order an investigation unless requested by the State suo motu. There have been more than 36 deaths in this case, isn't it high time for an investigation?" Congress leader Manish Tiwari said.Even lawyer Prashant Bhushan raised doubts over the case:with inputs from PTI
